Q: Should I pay
for an inspection when foundation repair companies do it for free?
A:
Foundation repair companies usually send a sales person out to the subject
property to assess the need for repair. The only people approved by
the state of Texas to assess structural damage legally are structural
engineers. Some foundation repair companies may have an on-staff
engineer. Be wary of bias opinions when dealing with engineers with
this sort employment relationship. We are a firm boasting
independence from any such relationship, there for, we provide an
independent, non-biased structural survey for each client. In so
doing, the common occurrence of up-selling (more repair than necessary),
is forced out of the picture.

Q: If I
have brick cracks, does this mean I have foundation problems?
A: Yes.
No. Not sure. If a person tries to perform inspections based
upon exterior veneer cracking and nothing else, be concerned. A
structural inspection is a thorough process and requires measurement and
visual data. To determine if you have a foundation problem or not
requires a foundation inspection.

Q: Do
sticking doors mean foundation problems?
A: Again,
it is professionally impossible to access foundation failure based solely
upon openings in walls. A foundation inspection is necessary and
recommended.

Q: Could I
have done anything to avoid this damage to my foundation?
A: Yes.
No. Maybe. Again, with out an inspection of the foundation it
is very difficult to answer this question. If you own a home since
it's conception, than I would feel safe in saying that you could have
prevented some of the damage. Proper maintenance of your foundation
is very much influential in it's successful life. Every property
varies in key areas which can either influence future damage or assist in
a
healthy life of your foundation. The best advice is to have a foundation
inspection performed. During the evaluation of your home, we will
inform you of any and all potentially harmful findings.

Q: I am
having a house built. Should I have a foundation inspection done?
A: Yes.
Why? Well, just because the house is new doesn't mean it is with out
problems. We have inspected houses that are not even finished being
built and they are finding foundation issues. The cost of the
inspection is minimal or next to none when compared to the average
of repair costs. Good insurance is a term used by many of our
clients when describing our services.
